Senior Citizen Discount


Enjoy 5% discount in your electricity bill.

Republic Act 9994 or known as the "Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 201" Article 12, Section 1 states the granting of a minimum of five percent (5%) discount relative the monthly utilization of water and electricity by households with senior citizens.


What are the pre-requisites for the SC Discount?

  • Individual meters for the foregoing utilities are registered in the name of the senior citizen residing
  • Monthly consumption must not exceed one hundred kilowatt hours (100 kWh) of electricity.
  • Privilege is granted per household regardless of the number of senior citizens residing therein.
    Take note: Only one account will take the discount even if the senior citizen is registered with multiple accounts. The account which is the permanent residence of the senior citizen will get the discount.


How to avail?
Step Procedure
1 Once that you are qualified with the pre-requisites, you can now fill up the application form. Download here
2 Secure one document that would prove the applicant's age and citizenship. What are those?

Any of the following documents will do:
  • Birth Certificate
  • Baptismal Certificate
  • Valid OSCA Card
  • Driver's License
  • Philippine Passport
  • SSS/GSIS ID
  • Voter's ID
  • PRC Card
  • Postal ID
In case the citizen do not have any document to prove on his age, an affidavit of two (2) disinterested person will do.
3 Secure one document that would prove the applicant’s residence.

Any of the following documents will do:
  • Barangay Certificate
  • Affidavit of two (2) disinterested persons who have known the applicant not less than one (1) year to prove his residence.
4 Proof of Billing. Please secure a photocopy of the applicant's current electric bill.
5 Once the requirements are completed, please visit our main office or sub offices for submission.
  • Main Office: Brgy. Soro-soro, Maasin City, Southern Leyte
  • Sub-offices:
    • Sogod Sub-office
    • Liloan Sub-office
    • San Juan Sub-office
    • Hinunangan Sub-office
6 If the senior citizen cannot come, a representative will do. Aside from the three documents mentioned above, the representative should bring his/her valid ID and an authorization letter duly signed or thumb-marked by the senior citizen applicant.

Once the application is approved, the discount will be applied next billing month.

Please take note also that the discount is renewable every year to update the account.
